Science outreach from Cardiff, across Wales and beyond
Science that ignites curiosity
NOVA outreach brings extraordinary science into classrooms, into workplaces and around the kitchen table. Curriculum-linked school sessions, children's books and a family science app, all built on live research.

New from NOVA outreach
Science Together
One short science question a night, written to be read aloud at your table. Everyone guesses, the grown-up reveals the answer, and the family talks. No ads, no child logins, nothing to scroll.
What we do
Science for everyone
Whether you are booking for a school, buying for your family, or looking for a partner worth backing, there is a way in.
Schools
Curriculum-linked workshops, educational packages and full planetarium days, delivered by a working scientist. Every price published, with funded places for state schools wherever funding allows.
Families
The Bearded Scientist books and the Science Together app. Beautiful, factual, funny science that keeps children curious long after a school visit ends.
Companies
Sponsor a school visit or a science day, run a team STEM event, or build a research partnership. Sponsorship funds the free state school visits we promise on the Schools page.
The Bearded Scientist
Every child is more extraordinary than the universe itself
Wildly enthusiastic. Magnificently bearded. Absolutely convinced that the universe is extraordinary, and that every child who picks up one of his books is more extraordinary still.
The Bearded Scientist fronts every NOVA outreach book, app and school session. The First Steps book range is on the way, along with a Bearded Scientist card game.
The universe is extraordinary. Every single bit of it. And so, quite frankly, are you.
Evidence-led outreach
Grounded in real research
NOVA outreach is not designed by gut instinct. Our sessions are shaped by ongoing PhD research into science capital, and by frontier observational work on comet 29P. Surveys taken in sessions and in the app feed that research directly.
What schools say
Real words from real teachers
You met the learners on their level and made science accessible to them. The excitement and passion you shared reflected back in them, we could all see the joy that the session brought.
The River Centre, Tredegar
His passion for the subject was evident and infectious, capturing the children's imaginations from the very beginning. The children have been talking about it enthusiastically ever since.
Thornhill Primary School, Cardiff
The feedback from pupils and teachers alike was extremely positive. There was just the right balance of providing information and allowing pupils to discover for themselves.
ILM Primary School, Cardiff
The funding loop
Every price on this site is real, and so is the commitment behind it
We use donations, grants and sponsorship to bring these sessions to state schools free of charge whenever funding allows. Books, sponsorship and donations all feed the same pot.
